ILY: D@YDR3@M - BLU3 & R3D, combines acrylic paint, markers, and coloured pencils on a round canvas to explore the balance between daydreams and reality. It delves into themes of resistance and affirmation, illustrating my journey in distinguishing the real from the imagined.
The colours each convey distinct emotions: red symbolizes desire and danger, while blue represents a contrast between freedom and unhappiness. Black is associated with power and restraint, whereas white reflects innocence and pessimism. The swapped red and blue backgrounds emphasize the tensions of contradictions inherent in life.
Visible imperfections created by coloured pencil marks acknowledge that some aspects cannot be erased, while bubbles represent childlike wonder and spirals symbolize the memories that shape us. This piece invites viewers to reflect on how our fantasies, traumas, and desires influence our perception of reality.
