Rae RezWell

Rae RezWell is a Deaf Dominican Canadian photographer and interdisciplinary artist who expresses her intersectional identity through her artwork. She utilizes a combination of mixed interdisciplinary art, photography, and alternative photography processes, showcasing her diverse skills in her creations. Her works use a combination of mixed interdisciplinary art focused on themes of culture, heritage, and trauma while also emphasizing meliorism or the belief in progress and hope from her intersectional multiracial and Deaf identities. Rae thoughtfully selects art materials that resonate with her emotions and visualize perspectives, incorporating colours, textures, symbols, and soundscapes that come with both soft and loud that evoke memories. Rae RezWell earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from NSCAD University and a Creative Photography Diploma from Humber Polytechnic. She is also pursuing an MFA in Fall 2025. Rae has displayed exhibitions for the OCADU Graduate Conference, The Artist Project, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, Blackwood Gallery, Wildseed Centre for Art & Activism, Nocturne: Legacies, and Anna Leonowens Gallery. She is co-artist with A. J., founder of Not Yet Collective, lecturing workshops and displaying artworks at art galleries and festivals.
